Juan Perez, 16 years old was declared dead on arrival in the Emergency Room of Philippine General Hospital, 10 in the morning, August 29, 2012.
Juan fell on the lobby of second floor head first after he had a collision with Pedro Rodriguez, his schoolmate in I am the Way, the Truth and the Life School (IWTLS).
Pedro told the police that he was going upstairs to the library in the third floor of the building when Juan, walking fast, came in his way.
Pedro admitted that he was walking on the wrong side of the stairs so he decided to take the right side. However, Juan took the same side and they collided.
The attending doctor said that Juan had trauma in his head and died of internal hemorrhage.
Parents grieved of their son’s sudden death. They said that Juan was a candidate for valedictory honors. “He was kind and industrious. He was the only hope of the family. He was the role model for his five younger siblings.”
It was also found out that before the accident, Juan stayed inside the library to prepare for the final exam in Mathematics. The librarian of IWTLS told the police that when the bell rang, Juan hurriedly get out of the library and what she heard afterwards was the loud screaming of students asking for help.
